2 Responses to I am raising Bourbon Turkey Poults right now anyone know everything I NEED to know and would like to share ?

1. I have been looking for good info about raising poults and have been talking with people who have raised turkeys especially heritage birds. I have put links to some of the resources together here: http://www.the-perfect-turkey.com/how-to-raise-turkeys.html

   One quick tip here, although many people raise turkeys together with chickens, there is always a possibility of this causing blackhead disease in the turkeys.

2. well first of all the Bourbon red turkeys are one of the most beautiful turkeys in my opinion
   people will tell you not to raise chick, poults, and keets together but i think its fine. if you have them in a tiny brooder that is dirty and wet then you could get black head infection but as long as you give enough space for them and keep the bedding clean then they will be fine.
   make sure none of the birds especially the turkeys (poults are not the smartest) drown by placing marbles in the waterers
   keep the temp at 90 degrees and decrease it 5-10 degrees each week which you probably all ready know
   feed the turkeys game bird feed or broiler feed because they need extra protein. i assume the leghorns are for eggs so you should feed them chick starter (which means you should not house the chicks with poults if they are on separate feeds) but if they are for meat then feed them the same as turkeys. the keets can eat either gamebird starter, broiler, or chick feed
