  1. Using only “heritage” strains of crop plants, two thirds of the people on Earth would starve to death. I’d call organic food production pretty much a fringer thing.

  2. GMO crops have not been proven to increase production and in the past 8 years there has been a yield decrease with GMO soy and corn over conventional (not gene spliced) crops. So that is a false statement that GMO crops increase food production. they do not and never have.

Also since GMO crops have never been properly studied in a controlled feed experiement in humans (or really in any mammal) The few controlled feeding studies that have occurred have raised a lot of concerns about feeding GMO foods to anything as there has been liver failures. And fertility in animals fed a diet of GMO grains has plummeted to zero in many cases. because the corps who have developed this technology never did the proper studies before commercial release we have no way of knowing when they are harming us. And because the studies have yet to be done, the industry tells us that these novel crops are completely safe. In other words, they are telling us they have no idea if they are safe or not so lets just assume they are. These corporations have fought to deny the consumers they right to know if there are GMO’s in their food by fighting labeling tooth and nail. if these GMO’s are so wonderful why not proudly label them? What do these corps have to hide?

People who are food aware have some major concerns about GMO’s and organic certification bans GMO’s so these people buy organic foods because it is the only food that is guaranteed not to contain GMO’s
