Question by Free As a Bird: Does Burts Bees treat the bees they use fairly?
just wondering cause I really like Burts Bees and I know they don’t test on animals but they do raise bees and use their beeswax and I heard that most companies that raise bees to use their wax and honey just give them a really cheap sugar replacement that isn’t very good for them… but does Burts Bees treat their bees fairly and give back to them?

They just use the honey from the honey combs, at least that’s what my mom told me. But I’m sure they wouldn’t do that.

No, no industry or company that uses animals treats them fairly. It wouldn’t be possible. A slave is never treated fairly and all animals used by every single industry that uses them are slaves pure and simple. Even without the cruelty and abuse at the top level they are still just slaves being used for whatever we want them to provide for us.
Here is a much deeper purely bee based explanation of why products stolen from bee’s are not vegan and how bees are exploited

Anything Burt’s (exploited) Bee’s makes can be found better and with no animal cruelty at any stage of the process. If you need help finding a particular product veganized let me know and I can try and help.

I can’t say for sure with that company, but many companies who produce honey over work the hives which leads to die offs of the bees, it’s doubtful you will ever find an organic wax based product that does not do that.
Sorry 🙁 I know you may not want to hear it but it’s true.
You could always switch to a synthesized product.
(In regard to the person who said “If it’s organic” they could not be more wrong, in fact it being inorganic in this case means it has a significantly lower chance of harming animals. If it’s synthesized from chemicals animals aren’t used. If it’s collected from animals organic and natural product animals are used.)

Oh, yes, totally.
All their bees are volunteers who generously give away the honey they work so hard to make.
