Spotted this beehive on a trail high up in a tree. The brightness and contrast had to be adjusted and an unsharp mask applied. It was too far away to see the details until I pulled up the photo.

Question by : How * Close * can a beehive be to water?
I have a 50′ by 90′ orchard with a small pond in it. I am going to put a beehive in.
It would be ideal to put the hive in a small corner about 6′ from the water, however this may be too close.
I could move it further away; I just need to know what the minimum distance a hive can be from the water

  1. There is no minimum distance, in fact the bees will love being close to the water in the summertime because they use the water to cool the hive.

  2. we don’t keep bees

but we live on a lake

a few years back a natural bees hive was built in the weeping willow that over hung the lake

    does that help you?
