Can you use Ivomec on dairy goats?

Question by princess idiot: Can you use Ivomec on dairy goats?
I have been told that it is not approved for goats and should not be used on goats whose milk is used for human consumption?????

  1. Ivomec is not approved for goats. There is no milk withdrawal times for Ivomec.
    However, many many goat people use it for their dairy goats. Usually they give the injectable form but give it by mouth. They give double what you would give a cow or sheep of the same size. Some people worm the day the doe kids and figure that the Ivomec is out of their system by the time the milk is ok to drink. Other people don’t care as they figure that ivermectin is used on people and is safe. But, it is NOT approved for goats! Actually as far as I know, though things may have changed, there is only one wormer approved for dairy goats and it doesn’t work anymore.
