Question by James: What are these small worm shaped things my cat leaves behind when it lays down somewhere?
Every time my cat lays down on my bed or anywhere it leaves behind what i thought to be dirt. There are some small dots and what not but then there is usually a few motionless worm-looking things curled up like a snake. I wiped it up with a wet napikin and the worm looking things excreted blood or turned into blood.

What is this stuff?

  2. It’s probably worms. Either way, you need to get your cat to a vet, ASAP. If it is worms, then treatment is fairly simple and inexpensive. If it is, by chance, something more serious, you need to care of that now, before it gets worse.

  4. If it’s very, very tiny and I mean about the size of this , or not much bigger than it is flea dirt. Flea dirt is poop from the flea, and since fleas suck blood the poop is like dried blood…and when wet will look like blood. It can look like little round black specks and even black curls. Look through your kitty’s fur, and if you see more black specks than your kitty has fleas and will need a flea bath, and/or topical flea meds. If you give your cat a bath, and the water coming off your cat is somewhat red and it looks like your cat is bleeding, don’t worry. It’s just all the flea dirt dissolving. It is very common for the flea dirt to fall off where ever a cat lays down or sits. This is the only thing I can think of that it is. There is no other external parasite that looks like what you are describing, and turns to blood when wet….just the flea dirt.
Here is a website that explains fleas and flea dirt and even has a picture of flea dirt enhanced.
