I would like to use this rocket stove to heater the aquaponic water so my tilapia will be happy over winter.

copper messes with the Ph… id stay away from that as best you can.
As long as your pump runs while to circulate the water you are fine it will
never melt. Pex is a bit easier to work with and yes copper would be an
options. You could line the inside of the barrel if you are sure to turn on
the pump.

I think you would be better off using copper tubing.
