Does anyone have great results from having their own worm farm and using the casting on their vegetables?

I want to know if the results are greater cost wise and yield wise than using store bought organinc fertilizers! Any answers would be appreciated along with support data!

  1. While I have no personal experience doing this, my sister, who runs an inn and organically grows most of the veges and herbs they use in their diningroom, has had excellent results. They have a relatively short growing season…Nova Scotia, and she finds that fertilizing this way is quite cost effective because they *feed* the worms leftover vege matter from the kitchen. She says their yield is probably 30-40 % over what it was before using the worm castings.
