May 22, 2010 – Dairy goat enthusiasts come to the home of the American Dairy Goat Association, in the foothills of the North Carolina Appalachians, for the first annual Spindale Dairy Goat Festival & Parade, including an ADGA sanctioned show – ADGA.org “Think Globally, Act Locally” – proceeds from the event go to Heifer International, which places farm animals with poor families around the world, for nutrition and income. http Considered a “Green Resource”, dairy goats thrive on marginal land and goat milk provides a rich food source, free of lactose-intolerance problems.   1. Dates for the Festival have been reserved for the next ten years. It will be on the third weekend of May. That is also Armed Forces Day weekend. The next one will be on May 18, 19 & 20 of 2012.
