In this video I show the straight shot wind turbine output while hooked up to two deep cycle batteries that have been converted to Alum and hooked up in seri…

Thanks for the update. Good to see it under load.
Output
10.45a
32.7v
20.3mph
0.342kw
Disc/swept area 3.24 m2 80″ diameter blades took a while to find this as
not in the description.
0.6 kw per m2 constant at 20mph or 10 m/s
0.354kw per m2 theoretical maximum harvest at 59%
This blade swept area at 3.24 m2 x 0.354kw = 1.147kw theoretical maximum
harvest
Basically works out as 30% efficient, that’s bloody good. Ignoring internal
and external impedance and the varying frequency, it is still really good.
For better data, a constant load would really help. I have been on and off
working on a data logger for this very reason. I loooove data. But I don’t
have wind to play with 🙁
I made a massive excel file 5-6 years ago that I gave to Muddy, it was very
accurate at determining alternator output (flux, windings gaps and spacings
even a coil resistance and awg limit ) and matched blade discs over 0
-100mph and even torque and gear ratios, I will have to find it and apply
what I now know of ac theory etc
Here is a link of a site for the maths on energy in the wind, it’s just
easy to understand physics, it’s not the one I was looking for but it is
ball park OK. http://zebu.uoregon.edu/1996/ph162/l14.html
If i find the other site in my notes somewhere I will like them, it is a
bit intensive. I missed a patent on alternator coil design 6 years ago
because I was researching it so much for so long that a company/univesity
beat me to a part of it , so I can’t sell the idea but I can sure help out
people. It was a hybrid of a pancake and 3 phase serpentine that had taps
and laminated flat coils, haha, work that one out. I made a proto type out
of mdf, it was 12″ 3″ disc it made 300watts with a 500watt input drive with
only 10% off the coils installed. The taps can be autonomously selected
voltage or amps, just like you would with a tapped transformer.
ANYWAY, I am Waffling on arn’t I.
That’s a nice machine you got there.
nice. look’s like she is doing good, you have put a lot of work and though
into this turbine and its working great for yea.

what was the coil configuration on that stator set up you just ran, I
forgot to ask, number of turns, number of wires on each coil, size wire?
that gives me more information so I know which direction to go.

Looks like the cut in speed is around 6 mph. If you do use a grid tie make
sure you use one with a dump load built in because ones with out on blow up
real easy. Thanks for sharing mate.

decent output there buddy. can not wait to get you this new stator using
number 14magnet wire sent to you. that should work really good for a 12
volt set up with more amps. very nice job!!
Thanks for the update. Good to see it under load.

Congratz on your completed project man.
It was cool to watch this from day one.
Fruits of your labors man, pretty sweet eh?:>)

Real power generation with a little fun courtesy of the wind turbine and
the dancing multimeter numbers.

22 volts will barely run an inverter, so may be best to run batteries in
parallel on a 12 volt inverter or grid tie

sure like the alum battery bank, good way to get storage . i hope for your
system it works in sub zero temps.
