It’s official the bylaw has been changed to allow backyard chickens in Vancouver! City Council passed the bylaw this week allowing for residents of Vancouver to house up to four chickens in their backyard. I interviewed Vicky Baker, East Vancouver resident, food activist, and chicken owner to get some tips for others considering getting chickens of their own. for more info visit: villagevancouver.ning.com/group/vvfoodgroupcoopcoops www.fvpfa.org/ www.vancouverfoodpolicycouncil.ca/

  1. That’s a good coop to start. I wonder what more modifications they have made to it by now…On another note, chicken’s need calcium to produce hard shells for their eggs. One of the common ways to get this in their diet is to introduce ground oyster shells. They also need grit/sand to digest their food because they don’t have teeth.
