The Lady Amherst’s Pheasant, Chrysolophus amherstiae, is family Phasianidae.
These are native to south western China and Myanmar
The adult male is 100-120 cm in length, its tail accounting for 80 cm of the total length. It is unmistakable with its black and silver head, long grey tail and rump, and red, blue, white and yellow body plumage. The "cape" can be raised in display.
This species is closely related to the Golden Pheasant and the introduced populations in England will interbreed.

Question by Mike: What do you call a Peking Duck crossed with a Mallard duck?
We have some pet ducks. Two Peking (1 Male 1 Female) and 1 Mallard (Female). The Mallard had 7 ducklings a while back and we can identify four of those ducklings as female Mallards but the other three are all black with a small patch of white on the underside of there neck. Are those some type of Mallard or Peking or something?

  4. INFO AND PICTURES OF PEKIN X MALLARD AND OTHER HYBRIDS

The mallard is the ancestor of all domestic ducks, except for the Muscovy which is genetically different and originated in Central/South America.

When Muscovies and Domestic (common ducks) mate naturally, the fertility rate is usually very low. If offspring are produced, they are sterile and cannot be used for breeding. A Muscovy female x Domestic male produce hybrids called “Hinnies”. A Muscovy male x Domestic female produce hybrids called “Mules”.

I haven’t seen a name for the Pekin x Mallard hybrid, but they are uncommon.

Check the sites below for pictures of some Pekin x Mallard hybrids and interesting info on these and other hybrids.

4th entry from bottom of page shows a bird identified as a “A Mallard/China Duck Hybrid”. There is no “China Duck” as such, so it is most probably a Pekin.
