Question by dashboardgyrl: How do you UNtag a goat’s ear?
I just adopted a goat & I want to get the tag off it’s ear without hurting her. My fiance says to leave it, but I hate those tags….
Give your answer to this question below!
Need a little more info… what does the tag look like?
It will hurt somewhat to remove the tag unless a local is given to numb the ear.

You should call a vet, you don’t want to take people advice over yahoo, or google it

I’m a small farmer. I raise meat goats. I have over 100 goats. I know a lot about the nasty little laws, because I farm.
Did you know it’s probably ILLEGAL for you to remove her tag? People have voted in all kinds of “lovely” little laws, and tagging has become a really big deal lately. Google N.A.I.S. sometime, and you’ll see what I mean.
Is it a scrappies tag? Then it’s illegal to remove.
Is it a farm I.D./tracking tag? Then it’s illegal to remove.
Is it a tag that took a DNA punch sample as it was applied? Then it is illegal to remove.
Does it have a farm registery number on it? Then it’s illegal to remove.
Chances are the farm she came from is registered with the N.A.I.S. and it would be illegal to remove her tag.
Since she is a goat, she is probably going to get it caught on something and rip it out on her own. Every single goat I have purchased has ripped it’s tags out over the years. I do not tag my goats.
Most tags are plastic, and can pull appart. Some are “tamper proof” and would need to be cut off.
