Question by Daisy_X: how do i start to keep chickens?
i live in the uk and i really want to keep chickens, but how do i start? my mum says we arent aloud to keep chickens where we live so do i hav to go through the council??

  1. I used to have chickens. All you have to do is make them a chicken coop. Get one rooster and one chicken. Son the chicken will lay a lot of eggs and have babies.

  2. There is far too much information to answer here, buy the practical poultry magazine its full of useful advice on keeping chickens or use Google to look up some websites, type in “keeping chickens”.

    Unless you live in an urban area I doubt you will have to contact the council? They are a tie, you can’t go away for a couple of days without someone reliable letting them out, feeding them and putting them away again and they don’t go to roost until around 10.30pm in the summer.
