Question by Mimi: Can you put a glass pan under the broiler?
I want to bake a chicken recipe and then broil it for a few minutes at the end to get it nice and crispy on top. Is this ok in a glass pan?

My glass pans aren’t rated for broil. Check the temp rating.

NO. Even pyrex pans can’t be used at higher than 400 inside the oven. Your broiler is at least 500+
No. Glass baking dishes are safe for oven heat, usually micro wave heat, but never for direct heat.
A few seconds is very dangerous. Also, you could easily be distracted.
The phone could ring. The baby could cry. The doorbell could ring. The dog could start to throw up. The dish would either fracture or “explode” injuring you and anyone else in the kitchen.
Do not try it. It is not safe.
It could “explode” and hurt anyone badly. It could break as you are taking it out of the oven and you could get burned by the hot chicken and the pan juices.
The chicken will get crispy on its own while it’s baking if roasted uncovered and basted from time to time. Tip: sprinkle before roasting with sweet ground paprika.
