Question by Me: What are popular dairy goat breeds in California?
I’m searching for dairy goats that are common or popular in only the state of California.

I don’t believe that there’s a certain breed native to California. The best milk goats are Nubians,Alpines and Saneens
There are breeders of all the ADGA (American Dairy Goat Association) registered goats in California. In fact, California has more dairy goats than many many other states.
The breeds are: Alpine, LaMancha, Nubian, Saanen, Sable, Toggenburg, Nigerian Dwarf and Oberhalsi. There are some other breeds not recognised by ADGA and I’m sure there are some in California
There are 516 adult members of ADGA living in California and 262 youth members.
I would suppose that the most popular goat is the same in California as elsewhere and that would be the Nubian.
While I agree with the other answer, the popular dairy breeds are indeed Alpine, LaMancha, Nubian, Saanen, Sable, Toggenburg, Nigerian Dwarf and Oberhalsi; I personally have seen a decline in the Nubians in most shows. Three or Four years ago a Nubian kid class could be huge and have 20 animals in it, now the Nubians are barely sanctioning.
I would have to say there has been a huge surge in the amount of Nigerians here in N. CA thanks to some strong Nigerian clubs. The LaMancha’s are also seeing a rise in popularity. Whether they have passed the Nubians in the whole state I do not know, but I have seen them on a drastic rise overall.
