Oahu. Most of the people are there. There are water parks, plenty of beaches, shopping, Pearl Harbor, luaus, underwater submarine tours, snorkeling, surfing, plenty of people to meet, shaved ice, and lots of dining.

The Big Island of Hawaii is what I recommend. Great snorkeling, swimming, waterfalls, gardens, active volcano and the highest mountain in the Pacific. I would not recommend Oahu because of Honolulu. It’s crowded and has the worst traffic in the USA.

Kind of depends on what you’re looking for.
Oahu is the most urban island with Honolulu/Waikiki covering most of its southeastern region. As such you will find the most man made attractions, i.e. the water park, the most museums, the most hotels and bars.
Kauai, also known as the Garden Isle, is known for its constant rainfall and lush green scenery as well as the town of Hanalei with its taro fields and the Na Pali coast with its hiking trails offering amazing vistas of its sea cliffs, caves and the ocean below. On Kauai can also be found the Sleeping Giant, a mountain which resembles a giant sleeping and Mt Waialeale, the rainiest spot on earth.
Maui has its wonderful little towns of Lahaina and Hana, but be careful, the road to Hana can be scary at times. As it is known for its lush green valleys, Maui is called the Valley Isle and sunrise on Haleakala is truly a sight to behold. During the winter, which almost feels like summer in Hawaii, whale watching tours can be had.
Lanai is the least populated island, but hosts quite possibly the best hotel, the Manele Bay, to be found in Hawaii. It is also the coldest as its most popullated region, Lanai City, is at the highest elevation compared to all other popullated regions.
Molokai is the most rural of all islands, but the hunting is amazing and wild boar, wild chicken, phesent and even deer can be found. The town of Kalaupapa is also there, and if you’re interested in the history of Hawaii, it is a must visit.
Hawaii, or Big Island, is known for its lava fields and its mountains, three of which are Mauna Kea, which hosts the Keck Observatory, Mauna Loa and Kilauea, one of the most active volcanoes on earth. One of only five molten lava pits in the world can be found on Big Island, the Halemaumau crater. Its towns of Kailua-Kona and Hilo are also picturesque places to visit.
Nature activities such as hiking, rock climbing, swimming, snorkeling, surfing, parasailing, etc. can be done on any island in Hawaii as you will find places that sell and rent the gear and services for such activities in most places.
On a side note and a word of warning, please do not take rocks from anywhere in Hawaii, there is a superstition that the rocks are the children of the volcanoe goddess, Pele, and it causes some seriously ill fortune, but more than that, if every visitor took a piece of Hawaii home with them, there wouldn’t be much of a Hawaii left.
