The Lady Amherst’s Pheasant, Chrysolophus amherstiae, is family Phasianidae.
These are native to south western China and Myanmar
The adult male is 100-120 cm in length, its tail accounting for 80 cm of the total length. It is unmistakable with its black and silver head, long grey tail and rump, and red, blue, white and yellow body plumage. The "cape" can be raised in display.
This species is closely related to the Golden Pheasant and the introduced populations in England will interbreed.

I found this strange but I once saw some people take a duck from the park and they put in the car. I think they were gonna eat it.

  1. I lived on a suburban lake in a ‘lake front condo community’ for a while — I saw people herd many (over a dozen) of ‘our’ community ducks into a van. I’m sure that they were for eating. We fed those ducks well and they were probably really tasty. Too bad though. We had given them all names and everyone was just heartbroken when I reported the ‘theft’ of our ducks. The ducks were really tame and hand-raised. They would actually respond to their names and come visit us on our decks.

  2. Physically? Probably.

Legally? Probably not, depending on where you live. Some students were arrested here not long ago for doing that.

  3. You could, but it is illegal depending on where you live. I know that in New York and New Jersey, it is illegal, and punishable by a huge fine or maybe jail time.

  6. Legally, in order to take and eat a duck you will need to have a duck stamp (basically a federal hunting permit) and whatever the state requires. Also, there is a limited window in the fall and winter for most species, so you would not be able to take the duck at this time of year. Also, it is illegal to hunt in congested areas (it is likely that you live in one of these), so you really can’t take wild ducks from ponds in your neighborhood.

As far as practically speaking, I would argue that you shouldn’t eat them anyway if your area is fairly developed (lots of houses and roads). If it is a city or suburb and duck and there are a lot of roads around the pond, that pond is collecting all kinds of thins (e.. oil, antifreeze, fertilizers, etc. etc.) from the area and accumulating them. The duck then eats various bugs and vegetation from that pond and also gets those nasty chemicals, which could make you sick.

  7. No, not legally. And if someone was to take a native bird such as a Mallard, these people could be fined or jailed, as all native birds are protected by law.
